Homemade dog treats are a great way to show your pet you love them while ensuring that they are only eating fresh, healthy foods! This recipe for puppy pasta can be served to Fido in small portions as a treat, or as a small meal on a special occasion.
Puppy Pasta
- 3.5 cups flour (white, whole wheat or other)
- 3 eggs
- 8 oz. beef liver
- Olive oil
- Butter
Put the beef liver into a blender and puree it until it is smooth. Add 3 eggs to the liver mixture and blend well. Pour 3.5 cups of your chosen flour into a large mixing bowl and use your hands to form a large divot in the centre of the flour. Pour the liver and egg mixture, as well as 1 tablespoon of olive oil, into the well in the flour. Mix well to form a pasta dough. Sprinkle some flour on your work surface and knead the dough for approximately 5 minutes, or until it is both shiny and smooth. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator to rest for at least an hour.
To cook the puppy pasta, separate it into equal portions of 4 ounces and use your hands to form your chosen pasta shapes, such as bones. Cook the noodles in boiling water for approximately 10 minutes, or until they are cooked to your desired consistency. Serve to your furry friend as is, or tossed with a small amount of butter or oil, and watch as your pet devours this exciting treat.
