Feeling fresh shouldn't have to cost one their health. Many of the chemicals in commercially available deodorants have serious side effects. Some ingredients are known to inhibit the natural detox system of the body. To avoid these harmful ingredients while remaining fresh is within ones reach. Many of the ingredients can be found in one's kitchen.
To begin, gather the following items:
- Coconut Oil
- Corn Starch
- Baking Soda
- Shea Butter
- Tea Tree Oil
- other essential oil (optional)
Mix 1 tablespoon of corn starch and 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 3 table spoons of coconut oil. The first three ingredients in the list above would suffice for a basic deodorant. They would assist with keeping the wearer cool, dry, and stench free. The other ingredients contribute to consistency, more odor causing bacteria fighting, and creating an aroma that is unique to the essential oils used. Shea butter will provide a firmer mixture as well as assist with keeping the armpits moisturized. A few drops of tea tree oil can be added to help fight the odor causing bacteria, and a few drops of any essential oils can be added as desired.
One should be careful when applying this mixture to not get it on clothing. Allow the armpits to dry before continuing with getting dressed to allow time for absorption.
