A homeless man, who found a backpack full of money and traveler’s checks totaling to $42,400, never once thought of keeping his find, it never crossed his mind. According to Fox News on Sept. 17, Glen James saw a man sitting with his backpack, but when he looked up again, the man was gone, but his backpack was still there.
James waited, but after some time went by he walked over to see what the man left behind. This when he discovered a small fortune and passports in this backpack. James flagged down the next policeman he saw and handed him the backpack.
This is a man who lives in a homeless shelter and panhandles for money to do his laundry along with the other necessities of life, yet he turned in this new found fortune.
The backpack was returned to its rightful owner, who was a student tourist from China visiting Boston. The Boston Police gave James a citation on Monday for his “extraordinary show of character and honesty.”
