In preparation for the premiere of the spy hit "Homeland," Showtime released new promotional posters and a new trailer for the drama on Aug. 22, 2013. "Homeland" returns for its third season on Sept. 29, 2013 (9 p.m. ET/PT) on Showtime. The new poster is to the left and the new "Haunted" trailer, which will debut on Showtime this Sunday, is attached.
"Homeland" stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Claire Danes, Emmy winner Damian Lewis, and Emmy and Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin. The trailer focuses on the three main characters, as they either confront or think about each other.
According to a a Showtime media announcement made on Aug. 22, the posters are four key art images designed to capture the emotional state of the characters. The story continues to unfold and allegiances shift as the season develops.
"Homeland" tells the story of Carrie Mathison (Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons, who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of U.S. soldier, then Congressman, now fugitive, Nicholas Brody (Lewis) was a setup and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. During the first season, Carrie was the only one who thought Brody was guilty. By the end of the second season, she was the only person who thought he was innocent.
Season three opens during the aftermath of the horrific terror attack on U.S.soil that decimated the U.S. intelligence apparatus, and prompted a global manhunt for the world's most wanted terrorist, Nick Brody. As Carrie and CIA officer Saul (Patinkin) begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody's whereabouts.
"Homeland" was based on the original Israeli series "Prisoners of War" by Gideon Raff and developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon.
"Homeland" stars Claire Danes as Carrie Matheson, Damian Lewis as Nicholas Brody, Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson, Morena Baccarin as Jessica Brody, Rupert Friend as Peter Quinn, Sarita Choudhoury as Mira Berenson, F. Murray Abraham as Dar Adal, Tracy Letts as Sen. Andrew Lockhart, Jackson Pace as Chris Brody and Morgan Saylor as Dana Brody.
"Homeland" has been honored with a number of major awards for the first two seasons including Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Drama, as well as a prestigious Peabody Award. The series is currently nominated for 11 Emmy Awards.
