Production on "Homeland" will begin production in Cape Town, South Africa, according to an April 4, 2014 media announcement emailed by Showtime. "Homeland" is the intense Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama starring Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin.

Bi-polar CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will be back in action following the gruesome execution of her lover Brody (Damian Lewis). At the end of last season Carrie, pregnant with the late Brody's baby, along with her mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), brought a significant and much-needed win for the agency and country at large.

Season four will find Carrie Mathison (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Claire Danes) assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East where she is back on the front lines in the war on terror.

The series will begin production in mid-June and shoot through November of this year. "Homeland's" fourth season will premiere on Showtime this fall.

“We've been so lucky to work with one of the best crews in the business for the last three seasons in Charlotte,” said "Homeland" showrunner and executive producer Alex Gansa. “We knew going into season four that we would need to move the production overseas to tell the story of Carrie returning to the Middle East as chief of station. We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground.”

"Homeland" stars Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin. Rupert Friend, as hunky CIA agent Peter Quinn, will return for season four, along with Nazanin Boniadi, who was recently promoted to a series regular as CIA analyst Fara Sherazi.

"Homeland" is Showtime's #1 top rated series, with an average of seven million weekly viewers. The drama tied for the most wins of any program at the 2012 Emmy Awards, honored with six wins including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series; and garnered 11 Emmy nominations in 2013. "Homeland" has been awarded Golden Globe Awards, SAG, Peabody, Television Critics Association, AFI and Critics' Choice Awards.

The series was developed for American television by Alex Gansa &Howard Gordon, and based on the original Israeli series "Prisoners of War" by Gideon Raff. Along with Gansa, Gordon and Raff, the executive producers for season four are Alexander Cary, Chip Johannessen, Meredith Stiehm, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.
