We are within the month for Showtime's critically acclaimed Homeland to return with its much-anticipated third season premiere, but some ravenous fans have found a way not to have to wait. A copy of the premiere episode entitled "Tin Man Is Down" found its way online over the Labor Day weekend-- missing its credits and some music. It appears to be the copy sent around to critics during TCA this summer.
Deadline first caught wind of this act of piracy and reported that over 100,000 users pirated the episode within hours of its upload on BitTorrent. It can now be found on countless other file sharing sites, including ch131.com.
We don't endorse piracy or illegally watching/downloading programming, so we will not be linking to these sites here.
While Homeland is set to return to its network on September 29 2013, Showtime often makes premieres available early online through their own channels. Homeland is such a (usually) well-guarded property, that did not seem to be the case this time. There is no word yet on if the network will release the finished version early after all, to combat the unfinished version floating around out there now. As it was, the copy sent to critics during TCA was marked "not for review" so expect some minor changes between this and the final, locked cut that will still air as planned.
Our review of the third season premiere will follow once the final, locked cut has been sent for those purposes.
