Showtime was honored with four Golden Globe Awards at the awards held at Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Jan. 13, 2013. The awards presentation was televised live on NBC Television Network. Showtime's winning series were "Homeland" and "House of Lies."
70th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Winners in TV categories led by 'Homeland' and 'Game Change'
The critically-acclaimed drama series "Homeland," this year's top nominated series, was recognized for Best Television Series, Drama for the second year in a row. Claire Danes won for Best Actress in a TV Drama and Damian Lewis won for Best Actor in a TV Drama. Don Cheadle was honored for his work in the network's original comedy series "House of Lies.
Three-time nominee Damian Lewis received his first ever Golden Globe win for his critically-acclaimed role as POW/terrorist "Nicholas Brody" on "Homeland." Lewis said that working on "Homeland" was "an exciting, wonderful journey." Lewis dedicated his award to his late mother.
Lead actress Claire Danes garnered her fourth Golden Globe win for her compelling portrayal of bi-polar CIA agent "Carrie Mathison." Danes paid to tribute to her baby son. Claire Danes and 'Homeland' also won Golden Globes in 2012. Claire Danes and 'Homeland' win at 69th Golden Globe Awards
Alex Ganza, executive producer of "Homeland," recalled filming star Claire Danes. When she was eight months pregnant, Danes had to do multiple takes being chased in a drainage pipe, while carrying her unborn child. "We fairly killed ourselves trying to live up to the hype of that first season and this award tells that maybe, maybe, we didn't screw it up," he said.
Mandy Patinkin was nominated for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor, but did not win the trophy. Tonight's wins mark the first time that a Showtime nominated actress and series have won in consecutive years.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association also recognized Don Cheadle for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical for his work as fast-talking business consultant "Marty Kaan" on the Showtime original comedy "House of Lies."The win marked the series' first ever award, and Cheadle's second Golden Globe.
