Homegrown Co-op turns library into farmers market

The Homegrown Local Food Cooperative brought a farmers market to the Orlando Public Library on Thursday, September 15. The downtown branch was filled with local producers offering samples of their wares accompanied by the live music of a Mariachi band.

The not-for-profit cooperative offers local and sustainably produced foods through their online virtual farmers market where food doesn't get any fresher. Produce from Farm Members is harvested and delivered the same day. The library event was a chance for the public to meet the producers and taste how much better locally grown food is.

Here are some of the participating producers:

Orenda Herbal providing lovingly handcrafted, herbalist formulated organic products for mind, body, and spirit.

Sunchowder's Emporia, producer of an amazing assortment of handcrafted fresh fruit jams, chutneys and pickled items. All of their products are made in small batches, never using preservatives, commercial pectin, additives or colorings of any kind. Locally grown produce is used whenever possible.
