Home of the Brave, Land of the Free

This country is often called the Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free. Those of us who have lived during the 2nd World War, Korea and Vietnam have one interpretation and those who were born after have a different  view.

They consider this the land of the free because they want the government to give them everything for free. They want free healthcare, free education, free housing and even free food. As the old saying goes, "nothing is free". Someone has to pay for it and they pay for it by working for it. People come from all over the world to America because they have that opportunity to not only make a living, but to be successful and make a lot of money. It is nobody's business as to how much you make. If it seems like it is too much to you, then start a business and make as much as you want. That is IF you are successful and there is no guarantee of success.

What does freedom mean to you? What price are you willing to pay for freedom? You have to fight for freedom. Our servicemen are putting their lives on the line, fighting in a foreign country and our President is flying to Denmark to try and secure the Olympics for Chicago. The General he appointed is asking for 30,000 more troops. He said we need the troops to win. If he doesn't get the troops, we could lose this war. Our President is too busy pushing health care and securing the Olympics. There are American soldiers dying on foreign soil. Either give the General the troops or pull every soldier out of the middle east and bring them back to protect our borders from illegal aliens and terrorists. Freedom is not free!

I've even heard some young people say "Socialism isn't so bad". They obviously haven't been taught what socialism or communism is. They've never lived in captive nations or the Soviet Union. The state owned everything. Average workers lived in state run apartments and every apartment had a communist party member living in one of the first floor apartments. He monitored all your visitors and even some of the phone calls (for those who had phones). Some Russians who escaped and came to this country were surprised to see toilet paper! When asked what they used, he said the daily newspapers, Pravda and Isvestia.  Is that the kind of secuirty and freedom you want?

I believe in freedom and the original meaning of the Constitution. I believe in low taxes and small government. If that makes me a right wing extremist, then so be it. I am willing to bet that people who call other people right wing and racist and conservative, have no idea of the meanings of these words.

America is not just a piece of real estate, it is a concept. That concept can be expressed in one word. FREEDOM!
