Citrus Décor Accents
Ranunculus (nicknamed “Persian buttercup”) is a graceful flower with a creamy yellow multi-year blossom that will bring instant cheer to any room. Pick up a bunch at a florist shop for a weeklong lift.
Set aside some candles and ribbons to create a little lantern that chases away post-holiday blahs.
To Do: Wrap a wide ribbon (sheer fabric will also work) around a glass vase, hurricane lamp or ordinary juice glass. Fold the edges under and secure to the glass with hot glue. Pop in a votive and light!
Hang your favorite prints-or photos from an old calendar-in sunny fabric frames.
To Do: Cut a hole (½” smaller than print) in a piece of cardboard. Cover the cardboard with fabric, securing to the back with hot glue. Then tape the print to the back of the frame, hang and enjoy.
Dwarf citrus trees can thrive wherever there’s a sunny window. Just let the tree soak up the rays; you ‘ll soon be enjoying both fruit and fragrance (from the dainty blooms). For more info, log on to www.fourwindsgrowers.com.
If you love rich fragrances, pick up a potted gardenia; just one beautiful plant can scent an entire room. Check out www.1800flowers.com.
