Getting ready for the Independence Day weekend has never been easier with a free cooking demonstration featuring something most people don’t think of – grilling vegetables.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sat. June 28, the Home Depot at 6110 Lemmon Ave. at Inwood Rd. will host a free outdoor grilling demonstration called “From Garden to Grill.”

The grilling demonstration headed by the store’s grill master, Mark Branning, will feature how to pick the right vegetables for outdoor grilling, proper seasoning, creating rubs and sauces and tips on mastering grilling techniques that will help you bring out the best flavor of the season’s freshest produce.

Tasty samples will be provided along with easy recipes such as Sweet and Savory Sweet Potatoes with cinnamon, nutmeg, sea salt, coarse ground pepper that are grilled and finished with drizzled honey (it can be veganized by using agave). Trained garden associates will be on-hand to provide expert advice on picking out the best grill and accessories for your outdoor grilling needs.

Whether you are a vegan, vegetarian or omnivore, participants of the cooking demonstration are sure to walk away with some delicious new ideas.
