Hollywood stars shine in Burbank

Millions of tourists come to Hollywood and walk down the dingy streets of the once glamorous Hollywood Boulevard. They kick empty drink cups and littered brochures for Hollywood tours and Scientology out of the way to take pictures of the commemorative Walk of Fame stars. They get harassed by “performers” in ill-fitting Halloween costumes in front of the world’s most famous movie theatre and eventually head back to their hotel wondering what the hell just happened. The missus turns to her hubby and says “All I wanted to do was come to Hollywood and see some stars!”

They don’t call it the Boulevard of Broken Dreams for nuthin’.

Even if a celebrity were to get totally lost and find themselves hoofing it down Hollywood Boulevard, you’d be lucky to get a begrudging wave and maybe a half grunt-half greeting before they scamper away from you as quickly as possible.

If only there was someplace you could go where celebrities, past and present, were just waiting to meet their fans, someplace where you could even buy an autograph from them, spend some time talking to them, maybe even get a picture taken with them. Now THAT would be a Hollywood experience to remember.

Well, this weekend is your lucky weekend, as the appropriately named “Hollywood Show” returns this weekend at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel and Convention Center.

Almost 80 celebrities representing classic and contemporary film and television are currently scheduled to be in attendance, and there’s a myriad of ways to meet, greet and interact with these Hollywood stars. Even the Bumblebee Camaro from the first Transformers film will be on display.

A plethora of sci-fi genre celebrities will be in attendance including, Superman alum John Schneider (Smallville, The Dukes of Hazzard), Tracey Scoggins (Lois and Clark, The New Adventures of Superman, Babylon 5), Antonio Sabato, Jr. (Guest star on Lois and Clark), the delightful Beverly Washburn (The Adventures of Superman) and Superman/Supergirl/Superboy producer Ilya Salkind.

Star Trek is also well represented with appearances by William O’Connell, Joseph Ruskin. Sherry Jackson, Bobby Clark, Peter Mark Richman, Clifton Collins, Jr., George Murdock (playing God, no less, in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) and Tiny Lister.

Other favorites include Barbara Eden, Linda Blair, Lance Hendrickson, Richard Anderson, Casper van Dien and for the first time, “The Phantom,” Billy Zane.

One of the unique elements of the Hollywood Show is the reunions that the producers put together. Cast members from famous film and television productions are brought back together, in some instances for the first time in decades. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to get autographs while the castmates sit shoulder to shoulder, and for a nominal fee, you can have your picture taken with the celebrities as a lasting reminder of your close encounter.

The scheduled cast reunions for this show range from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to Titanic to Dynasty and more.

There are also over 100 vendors who are selling all kinds of entertainment ephemera ranging from screen-used props and costumes to vintage movie posters and stills…and just about everything in between.

The event starts with a preview on Friday night and continues on Saturday and Sunday. Check the website for a full list of the celebrities scheduled to attend, pricing on admission, photo opportunities and more.
