When the celebrities stepped off the stage from the 45th NAACP Image Awards at the Pasadena Civic Center, they had a fashionable "Celebrity Retreat" to step into backstage.
HGTV Design Star, Josh Johnson was the interior designer behind the plush, elegant lounge. As he was creating the design concept for the gifting suite, he knew he wanted it to be a reflection of modern glamour. "Lots of old Hollywood influence with a modern edge. Everything is a little cleaner, a little more sleek and more contemporary." said Johnson.
Forest Whitaker from The Butler, Terrence Howard from The Best Man Holiday, Chandra Wilson from Grey's Anatomy and Sherri Shepherd from The View were a few of the stars who stopped in throughout the night to check out the fashion-forward lounge and to get a sneak peak at some of the cool swag.
"A lot of people have come by. We just had Regina King. She already loved our products and has a full supply." said Megan Lytle, who was excited to be backstage for Hairfinity, which is a nutritional supplement for people interested in growing longer, shinier hair.
Andre McQuillan and his business partner were also enthusiastic to be a part of the night's festivities and were upbeat about the response they received from celebrities for their BiGR Audio headphones, especially the trendy Madison Avenue line. "We did a little homage here to Chanel with a diamond, quilted pattern, which is tipping our hats to that kind of fashion design."
Karen Wood from Backstage Creations, who coordinated the "Celebrity Retreat" wanted to make sure the entire night was a memorable event. "We thought of the NAACP being a black tie event. There being a lot of elegance and we wanted it to be a lot of fun too."
