Hollywood studios and actors are increasingly finding opportunities to work in China, Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan said.
Chan said that in the past it was every Chinese actors' dream to land a role in Hollywood, but now U.S. studios are cooperating with Chinese studios to produce films geared towards the Chinese audience, the second largest market in the world behind that of the United States.
Although Hollywood is seeking out the Chinese market, China's filming technology still lags behind that of the West, Chan said. For example, Chinese studios now still outsource their films' 3D effects to the United States and Australia.
The international action star made the comments in Los Angeles yesterday while promoting his new film Chinese zodiac.
Chan added that China should rely on the international perspectives of western directors to introduce Chinese culture to the world rather than on films of domestic move studios alone.
