Zenyatta's fans will have an opportunity to offer their autographs to the supermare, beginning Saturday, October 23rd, at Hollywood Park.
A 7’ x 40’ banner will be displayed at the California horse racing track, saying “Good luck, Zenyatta.” Mike Smith, Zenyatta’s jockey, will be the first to sign the banner.
In November, the Zenyatta banner will be shipped to Louisville’s Churchill Downs, where Zenyatta (Street Cry x Vertigineux by Kris S) is scheduled to defend her 2009 title in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday, November 6th. The popular 2004 mare is likely to retire after the race, which could be her 20th consecutive win (a high-stakes racing record).
The Zenyatta banner was produced cooperatively by Hollywood Park, the Oak Tree Racing Association and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA).
Of course, Zenyatta’s fans (and her connections) hope the remarkable bay mare will be able to read the proverbial writing on the wall when she leaves the starting gate for the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
