The red velvet trend in Los Angeles doesn't stop at just cake or cupcakes. These days, Yogurtland boasts new flavors like low-fat red velvet frozen and Milk on Beverly tantalizes crowds with their red velvet ice cream bars. About every cupcakery claims to have "the best red velvet" in Los Angeles, but which bakery makes the mark? Who's been making it longer? Until all the red velvets have been sampled, that question won't be answered.
If you're looking for moist red velvet cake, check out the Hollywood Corner. It's unique to LA, as many bakeries don't offer a "wet" version. The wet version seems to have been dipped in a syrup to retain moisture. When eaten cold, right of the refrigerator, it is a force to be reckoned with!
Plus, Hollywood Corner has been making it for over ten years. They offer red velvet in two sizes: small cakes (two-three servings) and cupcakes. The cake has a low frosting:cake ratio, which is fine by most as the cake is incredibly moist.
Check out the Corner's updated menu, which introduced healthier options, such as Quinoa Cakes Benedict and Manouche herb flatbread pizza.
