Hollywood Bowl kicks-off its Musica Y Sabor exhibit

June 29, 2011 – The Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and the Hollywood Bowl kicked-off its Musica Y Sabor exhibit this Sunday.  LA Phil’s President Deborah Borda said that in the 90th season of the Hollywood Bowl the exhibit intends to “celebrate the Latino artists who have been and are part of the Bowl” and “appreciate the artistic diversity of Los Angeles and the impact those artists have on our communities.”  Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina attended the reception and praised the exhibit as a helpful tool to “find out a lot of history that many of us did not know about” before.

Exhibited are pictures dating back to the 1920s, with more current ones blown up to life size.  There are also computer interactive kiosks where the visitors can hear music and commentary on the work of varied artists. The Hollywood Bowl is expecting that the exhibit will become the subject for many school field trips in the future.

Musica y Sabor is displayed on the second floor of the Edmund D. Edelman Hollywood Bowl Museum on the grounds of the Hollywood Bowl at 2301 North Highland Avenue, Los Angeles.  Admission is free and so is parking before 4.30 pm.  Summer visiting hours are 10 am until showtime Tuesday through Saturday, and 4 pm until showtime on Sunday.
