As blonde-haired Holly Williams comes onstage with her guitar, there’s not much there to suggest that she comes from country royalty. Then she starts to sing, and three generations’ worth of country swagger spills out…and we go, “There it is…oh, it’s THAT ‘Williams’!”

The granddaughter of Hank Williams, and daughter of Hank Williams, Jr., Holly is an established Americana artist in her own right, having released several studio albums, made numerous late show appearances, and toured with the likes of Keith Urban, Train and Jewel. She’s also overcome her share of adversity, including a serious car wreck in 2006 that caused her to cancel a tour and left her wondering whether she’d ever be able to play again.

Williams’ latest album The Highway marks her first official independent release on her own label, Georgiana Records. Co-produced with Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars, The Lone Bellow), the record also features guest vocals from Jackson Browne, Dierks Bentley, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jakob Dylan. The record has already generated a lot of buzz, and People Magazine has named it among the “Ten Best Albums of 2013 (So Far).”

Holly Williams is currently on tour in support of The Highway, and her tour makes a stop in Denver this Sunday, May 19, at the Soiled Dove Underground. At press time, general admission tickets are still available from the Soiled Dove website. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00.
