Following January Jones, Holly Madison of “Girls Next Door” and “Peep Show” fame, posted on her blog yesterday, Feb. 27 that she intends to eat her placenta after giving birth to her daughter.
“This might sound gross, but I’m totally planning on having my placenta turned into pills I can take after giving birth. I heard it helps women recover faster and I want to recover as quickly as I can!,” the nine-months-pregnant, former Playboy model wrote.
Madison, 33, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Pasquale Rotella, 38, on March 5. And she isn’t the first celebrity to go this bizarre route. “Mad Men” actress January Jones shared that she’d taken placenta pills after the birth of her son Xander in September 2011.
The reason behind this new fad of consuming “placenta pills” is to help new mothers nourish their bodies after childbirth and potentially curb postpartum depression. Although, there is zero scientific proof behind these claims.
