Holland, Michigan has a ridiculous law on their books that prevents any household from having more than 2 dogs. While a family can have as many cats as they want, a recent proposal to allow families to own 3 dogs was turned down by the city council.
A family was recently cited by the city for having three dogs when their (jerk) neighbor complained that the daughter had found a puppy and brought it home to raise. This event sparked the proposal to raise the dog limit from two to the only mildly more reasonable, three.
With the amount of homeless dogs in the country, preventing families from adopting dogs in need is preposterous. Holland councilman Mike Trethewey supported the three dog amendment, and says that, although denied this time around, the proposal could be brought up again in December.
