The Integrative Health Pet Expo is the first coordinated effort by the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA), the Center for Integrative Veterinary Care and the Dr. DoMore ™ Project to bring together pet guardians and veterinarians from across the country. This ground breaking gathering will take place on September 10th and 11th, 2009 and is dedicated to the common goal of providing the best in health and wellness options to pets and their caretakers.
Fitchburg, Massachusetts, site of the 24th Annual AHVMA conference, will also be home to the Expo. Albany-area animal health providers and pet lovers, who are able to make the trip to Fitchburg (just less than 3 hours by car) will have the opportunity to network, choose from lectures by over twenty leading experts in the field of integrative veterinary medicine, and even pick up free samples and product information at the exhibit hall. Travellers will also be able to enjoy the peak foliage of this area.
Features of the upcoming event also include, a film festival, two silent auctions and, on September 11th, a salute to a very special rescue dog, who is not only an integrative vet care success story, but more importantly, one of our nation’s heroes.
The Hudson Valley’s own integrative veterinarian, author, and radio show host, Dr. Marty Goldstein, is one of the three world renowned keynote speakers featured at the Expo. In addition to Dr. Marty’s insights and experiences, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Dr. Jean Dodds share her expertise on the hot topic of vaccine protocols. And, to round out the keynote addresses, Dr. Judith Shoemaker will be speaking on Equine Holistic Health Care.
Pet guardians, and even veterinary health professionals, who adopt a more holistic approach to health care, often find themselves inundated with information, yet starving for reliable solutions and solid recommendations from true experts in the field. Event organizer, Dr. Margo Roman, has set out to address this issue. The wide array of topics, products, books and resources to be explored at the Integrative Health Pet Expo includes: natural parasite control (flea and tick products), vitamins, nutritional supplements and probiotics, natural grooming products, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, cancer treatment and prevention, positive training techniques and an in depth look at pet nutrition. Seminars and exhibits are targeted towards audiences of all experience and interest levels.
Admission ranges from $18 to $75 depending which events you will be attending. Proceeds benefit the non profit organizations that have coordinated the event and will go towards integrative medicine scholarships and community education.
For registration details, lodging information, list of speakers and topics, contacts and even a radio interview with Dr. Margo Roman, visit the Integrative Health Pet Expo website.

Great article!
Great start! Way to go.
Very informative! Great writing.......
Thank you for the feedback. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have specific holistic pet health topics on your mind.
our dog was diagnosed with a spindle cell carcinoma on her left thigh. the surgeon said this is a very common site for rabies shots. our regular vet is recommending titers instead of annual shots. what's your opinion?
Hello Friend. I am sorry to hear of your dog's carcinoma diagnosis. The pet vaccine debate is of utmost importance and will be highlighted at the Integrative Health Pet Expo described in the above article. I will be certain to share the insights gained when I return from the Expo next month for those readers unable to make it. In short, testing titers, especially in an instance where a vaccine associated cancer is suspected, is prudent.
Several of my friends (pet owners/breeders) attended the Holistic Pet Expo in Fitchburg and found it to be very informative. We came home with a lot of answers regarding holistic care of our pets. I know I can speak for my group who attended - we hope this expo will continue yearly in the Massachusetts/Northeast area. We all will continue attend. Knowledge is amazing - no one can ever take it away...
