With summer nearing an end, you might be getting anxious about the school year starting soon and maybe your child has even started public school, but you're not happy with their teacher and you're starting to wonder if homeschooling might be something you would pursue as a family. Do you wonder exactly how to homeschool or if it is even legal?
Lucky for you, there are tons of others who have been down this road before and even though every child is an individual, unique in so many ways, there are some basic things that are the same for everyone. I remember very well how overwhelmed I felt when I started my homeschool journey with a lot of curriculum options and there is now even more curriculum and social opportunities, especially in Santa Clarita, than when I started. I would love to help you sort through it and let you know about all the resources available to you as a new homeschooler.
Do you have questions about whether homeschooling is legal, what a charter school is, what kinds of philosophies people follow, what kinds of curriculum there are available, how to meet other homeschoolers, what to do if you are not an expert in a certain field, but you need your child to learn about it? What if you hate Math or Writing? Can you homeschool while working? Come get your questions answered.
Feel free to let all your friends know and come ask all your questions. There will be a general overview of homeschooling, whether it's legal, all the different options you have available and different philosophies, book suggestions and helpful hints. Then it will be open for all your questions as well. The meetings usually go for about 1 ½ hours.
The next free homeschooling/hybrid schooling information meeting will take place at Learn Beyond The Book at 21704 Golden Triangle Road, unit 410 this Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:30am. It is hosted by the Holistic Moms Network.
