Holidays at three Tahoe ski resorts

In a press release today, December 26, Rachel Woods, who heads PR at Northstar California, says that three great ski resorts have some holiday cheer for everyone. Northstar, Kirkwood, and Heavenly are all part of the Vail Resorts quiver of ski resorts.

Together, these three resorts have the largest snowmaking systems on the West Coast, according to Woods. The amount of terrain that is open due to their snowmaking capabilities is a joy to skiers and boarders.

“The three resorts offer skiers and riders the region’s most terrain with the best conditions; and with the New Year fast approaching, guests will experience spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations at each mountain,” said Senior Vice President Bill Rock, who oversees all three Tahoe resorts. “With online advance lift ticket purchasing, our Tahoe guests get the guaranteed lowest price and can ski all three resorts from first chair to First Night – and into the New Year.”

Up at Heavenly, a grooming machine has been retrofited and is now a "...state-of-the-art mobile DJ station." December 27 will see the launching of the tunes at 1 p.m. at the Tamarack Lodge.

This will kick off the 12 days of Heavenly Holidays in Heavenly Village. An outdoor concert, Fear No Ice scuplting and Fire Groove fire dancers will start at 6 p.m.

Billed as the world's only Gondola Ball Drop, Heavenly will time the drop with the midnight Ball Drop in Times Square. A world class fireworks show will then cause the skies to light up.

Snoop Dog and Cut Copy will cap the entire 12 days off with a performance at South Lakes SnowGlobe Music Fest.

Over at Northstar, the Fire and Ice festivities begin at noon on New Year's Eve. An on stage DJ will make the electronics sing at the ice skating rink from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. That's just the start of it.

A complimentary face painting and an electroluminescent puppet show from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. will be followed by live music from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring the all-female Queen tribute band, the Killer Queens. Hold on, as a Fireworks Spectacular commencing at 9 p.m. will light up the skies. It all happens in the heart of The Village at Northstar.

For a really different view of the fireworks, Kirkwood is offering a snow cat tour to the top of the mountain, where the sight of the fireworks will be a rather memorable experience. Hook up with the snowcat at 6 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. and ride to the top.

At 7 p.m. skiers and riders can participate in the New Year Torchlight Parade. The Fireworks Celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. from the Mountain Village. The Epic Mix New Year’s Celebration from then lights off at 7:45 p.m. and will continue to midnight in the Cornice Grille, all with complimentary appetizers, DJ music, fire pits, and mountain revelry.

Three great resorts, and three great ways to spend the holidays and New Years Eve.
