When I visited Blenheim Vineyards last summer, they mentioned that the winter would see four new releases from winemaker Kirsty Harmon.  Just in time for Christmas, the winery is releasing Painted Red this weekend!

The wine is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec, and features a label designed by the owner, musician (and rockin' Ozzy Osbourne impersonator), Dave Matthews.

With the new wine in Virginia and me in Maryland, I'll admit I haven't had the chance to try it out just yet.  However, I'm hoping to remedy that next weekend when I travel down for their free cellar tour weekend.  At 1 and 3 on Saturday the 19th and 3 on Sunday the 20th, winemaker Kirsty Harmon will be touring the cellar and tasting wines with guests.  Reservations are required, so if you're planning to join me, call (434) 293-5366 to reserve your spot!

Feel like sticking closer to home?  Check out Basignani Winery's Christmas Open House tomorrow (12/13). From noon to 6p,enjoy tours of the winery, a vineyard hayride, and samples of the wine.  Adults are $8 (includes souvenir glass), children 3-20 are $5.

This weekend and next from 1-6p, Boordy Vineyards is holding Celtic Christmas. Enjoy live music, toasted marshmallows, Wassail, and wine tastings.  The event is $5 for adults at the door, and no reservations are required.

Happy Holidays!
