Ruffle yarn is a very popular material for knitters, especially when making ruffled scarves. With all of the hype over this type of project fading away, it is time to search out different ways to use your ruffle yarn. One new idea is to use it in your Holiday decorating. Below are three projects to use up your scraps or that odd ball of yarn begging to be used. The projects and additional supplies can be found at Michael's website.

Ruffle Yarn X-Mas Tree

With autumn right around the corner, the holidays will sneak up on you. Finding cheap yet stylish decorations is always a struggle. You can turn your extra ruffle yarn into this lovely Christmas tree project. For this easy DIY yarn project, you simply wrap extra ruffle yarn around a cone. You can choose to use Christmas colors to decorate your tree. Popular colors for the holidays are red, green, white, gold, and silver. You can also use neutral colors, such as the silver and gold, so that this project doesn’t clash with any of your other decorations. Extra embellishments can be added for a more festive look; however this project is perfect if you are looking a simple and elegant way to decorate for the holidays. Click here for instructions.

Wrapped Ruffle Yarn Wreath

Another great project to try is the ruffle yarn wreath. This project is easy to make and won’t break the bank. All you need is a foam wreath and ruffle yarn in the desired color. If you are going to make a fall wreath, vibrant autumn colors such as browns, oranges, yellows, and reds are all great ideas. You can also tailor the colors for the Christmas season. Wrap your desired colors around the Styrofoam wreath, creating two layers so that the foam doesn’t peek through. You can add an embellishment to the wreath, such as a sprig of fall leaves or a few Christmas bulbs. To view further instructions, click here.

Ruffle Yarn Ball Wreath

If you are looking for a more festive look, try this yarn ball wreath. To do this project, you need a Styrofoam wreath, Styrofoam balls in varying sizes, and different colors of ruffle yarn. To create the ruffle yarn balls, you wrap your extra yarn around the Styrofoam balls. You can use smaller pieces of yarn for the smaller balls. Wrap the yarn until the Styrofoam is no longer showing. You can use different colors and textures of ruffle yarn to create a more unique look. After you’ve wrapped all of the Styrofoam balls, it’s time to mount them on the Styrofoam wreath. To do this, you simply glue the balls down. You can also use pins to hold the ruffle yarn ball in place until the glue dries. Add any additional embellishments such as a ribbon bow, and your wreath is complete. You can view this project by clicking here.
