The arrival of the holiday season also signals the influx of holiday photos. Many of us do it. Some attempt to be creative and snap that coveted shot on our own, while others leave it to the professionals. For the last three years my pups and I have been getting ours at The Americana at Brand in Glendale California, and we highly recommend them.
From now until Christmas, every Wednesday is designated pet night from 6 pm until closing. Photo packages range from $20 to $50, but a favorite of mine continues to be the Prancer Package which includes one 5x7 print and a flash drive with four images from your visit with Santa. With the digital negatives in hand you can come home and edit or crop the photos as you see fit.
My dachshunds, Rufus and Emily, recommend The Americana at Brand because the same Santa Claus is there year after year and he really enjoys it. He even told us so. This Santa is a self-proclaimed dog person and is more than happy to pose with our pampered pooches. Additionally, he is a really good looking Santa. He looks like the real deal to me. We recommend visiting the professionals at The Americana because their set is pretty superior to anything you might have at home, generally speaking.
However, I do have a few tips to enhance your visit. First, decide if you want to be in the photo with your pups or not. Santa is happy to pose with our pooches sans their human, but we’re also welcome to be in it if we choose. Second, if you plan to be in the photo, I recommend you bring along a significant other or friend to help with set direction. You only get a few minutes with Santa and they snap those four photos pretty quick so it works to have someone there to ensure your tie is straight and your hair isn’t out of place. You'll certainly appreciate a second pair of eyes. Finally, have fun with it. To get us in the Christmas spirit we were blasting holiday music in the car and singing along.
