With the current holiday season upon us, everyone is thinking of gifts and egg nog and Christmas carols and trees and candy canes. People are acting festive and also frantic as they try to get everything ready for the big day of December 25. Not many people are thinking of ghosts, goblins, and Halloween but that is what's going on in Melrose Park.
Ken Spriggs is going to open his Dream Reapers Haunted House: Nightmares Before X-Mas on December 9, 2011. Don't worry, it won't include a nativity scene, but it will have an overall Christmas theme.
"It’s really hard not to put zombie Baby Jesus in the manger," Spriggs explained Tuesday. "But all the nuns in my former childhood would come back to haunt me."
Spriggs is joining up with his three business partners to bring this newly themed haunted house to life because they need to raise some money thanks toa recent burglary. Someone broke into their 10,000-square-foot haunted house on Halloween morning and stole a safe with $150,000 inside.

So for a time frame of only four days this month, the partners are opening the haunted house in Melrose Park in hopes of earning some of that money back. So if you're in the area, head out to 1945 Cornell Ave, Melrose Park, IL for all the ghoulish garland.
