The holiday season is fast approaching along with a whirlwind of events to attend. Here is a selection of fun things to do in locations that are friendly for autistic children.

  • The Variety Club's Holiday Party will take place on Saturday, December 5th starting at 1pm at 2950 Potshop Rd. in Worcester, PA.
  • Cut Your Own Tree, Visits with Santa and Caroling Hayrides have started at Linvilla Orchards in Media. Register ahead of time to cut your own tree on the Linvilla website, tree-cutting times are M-F 10am to 4pm and Saturday/Sunday 9am to 5pm. Visits to Santa take place every Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 2pm now through December 24th. Hayrides with carols around the campfire, hot cider and marshmallow roasting take place December 5, 12 and 19th starting at 4:30pm.
  • Breakfast with Santa will take place on Saturday, December 12th at 8am. Admission to the gardens is included in this event. If things get too hectic, the gardens are a great place to duck out and have agitated children take a deep breath and collect themselves.
  • The Annual Commemeration of the Continental Army's March will take place at Valley Forge Park starting at the Visitor Center at 6pm on December 19th. This event is free and open to the public and includes historical re-enactment, campfire and candle-light tour.
  • Yuletide Buffet at Longwood Gardens will take place on Saturday, December 20th and Saturday, December 26th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Prices: $52 for children over 12 and adults, $31 for children 5-11, free for children under age 4.
  • Countdown 2 Noon at the Please Touch Museum will take place on December 31st from 9am to 3pm. Two countdowns will take place: one just before noon and one just before 1pm. This is a fun New Year's treat for kids to have 'their' party before grownup parties later in the evening.
