Holiday events dominate the coming week in Orlando music

Holiday events, many for charity, begin to dominate the coming week, December 9-15 in Orlando local music, plus there are a ton of great regular events to choose from as well.

On Monday night, Orlando vocal group VoicePlay is competing against nine other a cappella groups on NBC’s “The Sing-Off” starting at 9 p.m.

Thursday night at Wills Pub is a Philippines Relief show featuring live music from Orlando bands Beebs and Her Money Makers, Milka, Vova Zen and Don Bear. The doors open at 8 p.m. and 100% of proceeds have been pledged to go to aiding families in the Philippines.

Saturday night is Rock for the Homeless at the Gibson Showroom featuring live music from Sknn with the proceeds benefitting the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.

Also on Saturday is the 5th annual Rockin XMAS Benefit concert at revival featuring live music from A Thousand Times Better, Tin Can Rally, Vapid, the Sonic Explosion and Lost in Progress. There is a $5 cover chage or get FREE entry with a new, unwrapped toy for donation.

On Sunday is the Holiday edition of Southern Fried Sunday at Wills Pub. There will be live music and entertainment from Thomas Wynn and friends, Hymn For Her, Bad Santa and the Angry Elves and The Bloody Jug Band and food from The Smiling Bison. They will be collecting donations and unwrapped toys for Kids Beating Cancer.

Sunday at The Timucua Arts White House, there will be live music from Orlando’s Abdias Ernesto Garcia, Beth McKee and Kattya Graham. The show will be recorded and released as a live CD and DVD.

Monday, December 9

Wills Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from Black Tide, Sons of Ragnar, Thicket, Atlas and All Hell for this 18+ show. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The doors open at 8 p.m.

BB Kings Blues Club - 9101 International Dr. - Live music from Blue Stone Circle from 7:30-11:30 p.m.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - RPR presents open mic hosted by Joshua Snyder of The Smoking Jackets and featuring Rhenn Again at 8 p.m. This FREE event is 18+.

Tuesday, December 10

Wills Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from Orlando singer/songwriter Jackson Rodgers opening for National touring act Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas for this 18+ show. Tickets are $7 and the doors open at 8 p.m.

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - Twisted Tuesday with Tangent for this 18+ show. This FREE event includes live music and other entertainment as well as a home-cooked meal, but donations are appreciated. The live music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Jazz Tastings - 164 Lake Ave. (Maitland) - Live music from John Valeri Quartet at 7 p.m.

Sleeping Moon Cafe - 495 N. Semoran Blvd., Suite 1 - Talent Night Tuesdays open mic from 7-10 p.m. hosted by Orlando’s Purple Kloud.

Wednesday, December 11

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Live music from Carrier, False Tongues, Clear Convictions and Spiritual Warfare for this show. Tickets are $5 and the doors open at 7 p.m.

Dexter’s Winter Park - 558 W. New England Ave. - Live music from singer/songwriter Donnie Lee at 7 p.m.

Jazz Tastings - 164 Lake Ave. (Maitland) - Live music from OPUS Mundi at 7 p.m.

On line everywhere - WPRK 91.5 - WPRK’s Local Heroes radio show from 5-7 p.m. features local talent from actors, directors, photographers, entrepreneurs, and musicians with DJ Daniel Pacchioni playing music from local Orlando bands. This week’s in studio guest is Orlando band Anyone’s Guess.

Thursday, December 12

The Beacham - 46 N. Orange Ave. - Live music from K. Michelle and The Gerry Williams Band along with DJ Remington Steele for this 18+ show. The doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $25 - $40.

Jazz Tastings - 164 Lake Ave. (Maitland) - Live music from the Bryan Mays Trio featuring Michelle Mailhot at 7 p.m.

On line everywhere - WOGR - Join Orlando singer/songwriter Mark Dawson every Thursday for his weekly radio show, “Making Noise with Mark Dawson,” from 9-11 p.m.

Friday, December 13

Odin’s Den - 1335 Howell Branch Road - Booked Promotions presents live music from Infinite Radio & The Shadow People, General Eyes, The Adolescent Theory, Southside Simms and Billy Floyd for this 18+ show. Tickets are $6 for 21+ and $8 for 18-20. The doors open at 8 p.m.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - Gemeni 13 Entertainment and West End Live present live music from Anybody Killa - ABK with RAZORZ EDGE, BAKE LO, Stranger Haze, Sacrament, DREW MCI and D/EFFEkTOR for this show hosted by Delusional. The doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Booked Promotions presents live music from The Venetia Fair, Makari, The Knowing Within, Bars and Ballet and Decades in Spain for this all ages show. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. The doors open at 7 p.m.

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - BackBooth and Glory Days present live music from Mel Martinez (“The Voice”), Tarek Kasami, Shout London and Midnight Satire for this all ages show. General admission tickets are $13 and special VIP meet and greet tickets are $35. The doors open at 7 p.m.

The Cork Room - 671 S. Goldenrod Rd. - The Militia friends Holiday party featuring live music from singer/songwriter Jeff Howell and a comedy performance from Ross McCoy for this 18+ show. Tickets are $6 in advance and include the first drink. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. There will be door prizes, raffles and FREE stuff along with drink and food specials.

Celebration Town Center - Front St. (Celebration) - Radio Disney Holiday Concert featuring live music from Before You Exit and Megan Nicole. This event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Berrios at this FREE all ages event. This show will be recorded and released as a live DVD and CD. There is limited seating.
