Holiday parties with the same old cocktails ~ Tom & Jerry's and punches ~ can be so boring! Why not spice up your holiday cheer with new discoveries?
Found in a unique shop in Red Bank, Red Ginger Home, was an intriquing little square bottle called Wild Hibiscus Flowers in Syrup. Upon reading the label and brochure, not only was I intriqued, I was hooked. I had to try it ~ it was a bottle of tiny hiibiscus flowers from Australia soaked in a sugar and water syrup.
The cocktail I created is "Hot Hibiscus" ~ Gently place a wild hibiscus in the bottom of a frosty martini glass, add about 1/4 tsp. syrup and fill with chilled Absolut Vodka Peppar. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and voila, you have an incredibly delicious (and holiday colored) cocktail.
Accompanying the Wild Hibiscus is a brochure of recipes, as well as a cocktail guide. This is a unique hostess gift or present for that special person who has everything. It also offers unusual recipes for, not only drinks, but desserts, hors d'oeurves and salads.
Red Ginger Home, on Monmouth Street in Red Bank, is a treasure trove of unusual gift items, beautiful home furnishings and elegant decorative accessories with a bit of funkiness for the fun-minded.
Happy Holidays!
