Although they are still waiting for their forever homes and families to love them, the dogs and cats at the Islip Animal Shelter on Long Island will have something to celebrate this Christmas thanks to the volunteers at Live. Love. Bark who collected more than 200 gallons of toys to fill the stockings hung on each cage this Saturday. In addition, the animals will feast on morwe than 20 gallons of canned food and 300 lbs of kibble donated by caring supporters in town.
“When our residents band together to donate to our animals, especially during the holidays, it is truly heart-warming. Everyone deserves to be happy for the holidays, and that includes all of our animals wating to be adopted,” stated Islip Town councilwoman Trish Bergin Weichbrodt.
It was also noted that $350 in cash was also raised and will go toward purchasing items on the shelter’s “wish list.”
