Lincoln Park ZooLights have returned again this year. Holiday lights, shopping, ice carving and of course Santa help bring holiday cheer to the zoo. This free event continues December 9-11 and December 16- January 1 (except December 24 and 25) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Winter WonderFest at Navy Pier will also continue this year through January 8. The event features various rides and attractions including an ice skating rink, Ferris wheel, different obstacle courses, sleigh rides, movies, live bands and dressed-up characters.

Another Christmas staple in Chicago is the Joffrey Ballet’s The Nutcracker. This famous performance with live music by the Chicago Sinfonietta will take place December 9- 27.
