Cookies, cakes, candy and other treats – celebrating the holidays, we bring out our favorite recipes to make, enjoy and share with family and friends.

Why not add a few cat treats for the feline members of your family? These six cat treat recipes are easy to make and will be a sure hit with your cats!

Poultry Purrfection Treats

1 cup cooked turkey or chicken

1/2 cup beef or chicken broth

1 tablespoon margarine

1 cup whole wheat flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine turkey, broth and margarine. Add flour to make a soft dough. Add additional flour 1 tablespoon at a time if dough is too sticky. Roll out dough and cut with cookie cutter, or break off pieces and form into interesting shapes. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes on ungreased cookie sheets.

Festive Feline Fish Pretzels

3/4 cup canned tuna or salmon, drained well 1/4 cup warm water

1 tablespoon butter

1 cup whole-wheat flour

Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. In a medium size bowl, mash canned fish well with a fork and combine with water and butter. Add flour to form a dough. Divide dough into 24 pieces, roll each piece into a rope, and shape into a pretzel. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned.

Cool Cat Cookies

1 cup whole-wheat flour

1/4 cup soy flour

1 teaspoon catnip

1 egg

1/3 cup raw goat’s milk

2 tablespoons wheat germ

1/3 cup powdered milk

1 tablespoon unsulfurated molasses

2 tablespoons butter, vegetable oil, or canola oil

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix dry ingredients together. Add molasses, egg, oil and milk. Roll out flat onto oiled cookie sheet and cut into small, cat bite-sized pieces. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool and store in tightly sealed container.

Crazy for Kitty Cheese Balls

2 tablespoons soft margarine

1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

1 egg white

1/2 cup flour

1/2 tsp catnip

Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine margarine, cheese, catnip and egg white. Add flour to make a soft dough. Separate dough into half-inch pieces and roll into balls. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 35 minutes. Makes about 12 balls.

Hot for Ham Cat Treats

1 jar (2-1/2ounces) strained ham baby food

5/8 cup wheat germ

5/8 cup non-fat milk powder

1 egg, beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with vegetable oil spray. Mix baby food, wheat germ, milk powder, and egg in medium bowl. Drop by 1/2 teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on wire rack and store in an airtight container or plastic bag in refrigerator.

Crispy Cat Liver Morsels

1/2 cup cooked chicken livers

1/4 cup water

1-1/4 cup whole wheat flour

1/4 cup cooked carrot, mashed

1 tablespoon soft butter

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Place well-done livers in a blender with 1/4 cup of water. In a bowl, combine flour and butter. Add liver mixture and carrots and knead dough into a ball. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thick and cut into 1-inch-sized pieces. Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
