U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will testify this week before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on the scandal known as 'Operation Fast and Furious,' or 'Project Gunwalker.'
Central to committee chairman Darrell Issa's questioning of Holder will be new information in the latest Friday night document dump that shows the Attorney General knew about the illegal operation early on, including bombshell information surrounding the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in December of 2010.
Holder has stated in sworn testimony before Congress that he was informed of Fast and Furious "only a few days" prior to his first appearance before the committee early in 2011. In another appearance before the committee last November he claimed he knew about the operation "only a few months" before his testimony.
But the documents released by the Justice Department at the direction of the White House Friday night indicate that Holder was not only aware of Fast and Furious in 2010, but he knew that the guns the Obama Administration sent to Mexican drug cartels were used to kill agent Terry.
Emails released by the DOJ Friday evening show that Holder's top assistant was informed of the guns found at the murder scene within 24 hours of Terry's death.
Fox News has provided a video of a report issued by Martha MacCallum that presents an overview of what to expect in Holder's testimony before the Issa committee this week.
Mike Vanderboegh, one of the reporters who first broke the Fast and Furious story in December of 2010, has traveled to D.C. to attend the Issa hearings this week and to track down several rumors concerning the scandal that may shed new light on the fiasco.
Holder's appearance before the Issa committee is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2.
