Suite 700, the trendy rooftop bar at Santa Monica’s hip Hotel Shangri-La, is featuring the national cocktail of Brazil in honor of the Sixth Annual Brazilian Film Festival which is taking place in town from September 8 through 11, 2013.
The hotel’s barkeep will be mixing up Blackberry Caipirinha’s in honor of the event. For the unitiated the drink is made with 1 ½ ounces Cachasa Velha, an ounce of simple syrup, three muddled blackberries and four lime wedges that’s shaken with ice and poured into a 12 ounce tumbler. For an added treat, they are also featuring a drink called the Saigon Seduction which can only be found at Hotel Shangri-La. A secret family recipe and what the hotel dubs a powerful love potion, the cocktail is being prepared bymixologist Phong Traqn, a direct direct descendant of the drink’s creator.
