Hofstra men’s basketball: Lester hits 1,000-point mark in Pride win

It was a two-man show Wednesday evening at the Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, N.Y., as Hofstra basketball standouts Mike Moore and Nathaniel Lester led the Pride to a 74-49 CAA victory the Towson Tigers.

Moore and Lester combined to score 47 points. Moore knocked in 28 on 9-of-16 shooting, including four three-pointers. Lester added 19 points and became the 30th Hofstra played to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. He also pulled down eight rebounds in the win.

The Pride, which snapped a three-game losing streak, improves to 8-16 on the year and 2-10 in CAA play. Towson drops to 1-23 on the season and 1-11 in conference play. The Tigers recently snapped a 41-game losing streak with a win over UNCW on Jan. 28.

Hofstra scored 35 points off of 27 Towson turnovers, which allowed the Pride to cruise to the win. A 22-9 Pride run late in the first half put the game out of reach. The Pride’s largest lead of the contest of 28 came with 20 seconds to go in regulation.
