Hodgdon and Valley to meet in class D boys state title game

The Hodgdon Hawks went on their longest winning streak of the season at just the perfect time.

The Hawks enter the class D state championship game on a nine game winning streak.

Junior Chris Hudson scored 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in leading Hodgdon to a 49-37 victory over Southern Aroostook in the class D regional final.

It is the Hawks first class D Eastern Maine title. They won back to back state championship as a class C school in 1995/1996.

Hodgdon (19-3) suffered two losses against Houlton this season. The Shiretowners are 21-0 and playing in the class C state championship game.

The other loss for the Hawks was a close 46-44 contest at Washburn.

Hodgdon will take on Valley in the class D state final on Saturday @ 2:45 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.

The only lead for Valley (17-4) in their regional final victory came at the perfect time.

Cody Laweryson made a three pointer with eight seconds left to cap off a 50-49 stunning comeback victory over Hyde in the Western Maine final.

Dylan Belanger from Valley was selected to the McDonald's class C/D Western Maine senior all-star team.
