In Hoboken, New Jersey where some of most beautiful brownstone houses still keep their timeless fassold, the residents of Castle Point were invaded by an endless horde of no other than, Cosplayers. This past week, Steven Tech, located in the town of Hoboken, hosted this annual Castle Point Anime Convention. Many dire-hard fans travelled to Castle Point met with writers of Anime/Gaming, artists and Anime merchants dealers who were on hand while attendees young and old masquerade themselves with detailed outfits, dresses and costumes many painstakingly made from scratch.
Every year, Castle Point Anime Convention brings people young and old together in hopes of sharing ideas and skills and display to one another as a way to pay tribute to their favorite anime character. From Elsa and Anna, from the movie Frozen, to Lolita Fashion, some were simple outfits while others costumes were so elaborate they looked as though it came from a special effects studio. Also, this convention hosted guest appearances like Michele Knotz, the voice of Pokemon’s Team Rocket Jessie, Crispin Freeman, a popular voice actor for animation and video games since 1997. Comedian Ian Rubin and author Katie Tiedrich from webcomic Awkward Zombie.
Cosplayer believe it’s a way of life which one can portrait a favorite character for a moment and meet others who share the same passion and make that creative connection. For many who attended this year’s Castle Point Animation Convention, left with a sense of acquaintanceship among one another with a spark of creativity and showmanship.
