Director Peter Jackson began shooting the J.R.R. Tolkien's two-part retelling of the "The Hobbit" in March; however, the New Zealand production has encountered several publicized delays. Both movies are shooting in 3D and will star Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, as well as well known "Lord of the Ring" stars Elijah Wood, Sir Ian Mckellan, Cate Blanchett and the recently confirmed Orlando Bloom as the elf Legolas.
"The Hobbit" takes place 60 years before "The Lord of the Rings" and will feature Freeman's Baggins as the hobbit who embarks on a journey to take back the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the evil dragon Smaug.
