January is the beginning of a new year. Some people make New Year’s resolutions to start a new way of life with diet and exercise. Often those resolutions are broken in a few weeks. Finding the creative side of your personality may be the answer to a new year’s promise you can keep all year long.
If arts and crafts are your thing, a short trip to the nearest big box store or even the local Hancock fabric shop on Palmetto street, Florence, South Carolina can get you in the mood to try something different. If you like the feel of yarn or fabric there are many patterns online and pattern books that offer many types of craft projects. A bottle of white glue, a pile of old magazines and you are on your way to a new look for a small table or wooden box with decoupage art.
If you are happiest walking around in a hardware store such as Lowe's on Freedom Boulevard where they sell tools then you might like to try your hand at a small carpentry project. Spring will be here before we know it and the birds will need a place to nest and a nice new feeder that can be hung in the tree.
Thrift shops offer many glass items that can be glued together and used as bird baths or garden art or as items for glass etching. The clothing you can find at the Goodwill thrift shop on Second Loop Road offers you an opportunity to be a clothing designer. Golf clubs can be found in thrift stores as well.
So go on a search for something different and fun for 2013; find that happy place and put it to use.
