HOAX! Kentucky Fried Chicken pit bull attack girl alleged lie to raise money

According to a Clarion-Ledger article "The heart-wrenching story of a disfigured 3-year-old child being asked to leave a Jackson KFC because her appearance was scaring other customers was a made-up story that resulted in the family bilking the public and professionals for more than $135,000 in cash, as well as gifts and free surgeries, sources."

The story has gone viral about the little girl who the family claimed had tried to eat lunch at a KFC only to be turned away. The family has used the story to skyrocket their Go Fund Me cash pot to over $138,000.00.

Says the Clarion-Ledger, "The source said surveillance videos show that at no time on the 15th were any people children in the store who match the description of Victoria Wilcher or Mullins. The tapes were viewed in both the Meadowbrook and Woodrow Wilson KFC locations in Jackson, the source said. In hours of tape, the source said one small boy with his parents is seen, but they order food and leave the store."

According to reports, the girl was attacked by her grandfather's unfixed three pit bulls. Questions that the grandfather was breeding the dogs have been raised as most incidents of this nature involve unaltered breeding animals.

The Daily Mail cites the following:

  • Three-year-old Victoria Wilcher was seriously injured when she was mauled by three pit bulls in her grandfather's backyard
  • Her grandmother claims she was getting her mashed potatoes at KFC when they were asked her to leave because the young girl was making other customers 'uncomfortable'
  • KFC publicly apologized and donated $30,000 to help pay for Victoria's medical bills
  • Now an independent review has found that the incident didn't actually happen
  • Surveillance video shows that the woman and girl didn't go to KFC that day and there are no receipts showing the combination of items they bought
  • Since the story made news headlines grandmother Kelly Mullins has raised over $135,000 for her granddaughter
  • It is unclear if she will face criminal charges if found to have made the incident up

If the dogs were in fact breeding dogs which caused the initial incident, this entire affair could have been avoided and little Jessica could have been spared. If these allegations are indeed true, this family should never have profited from a tragedy which could easily have been prevented.

This reflects so sadly upon our society in which rabid reporters so thirsty for a mauling story, rush to sites like Colleen Lynn's '' which is filled with up with false made up statistics and just as fake as the claims made by Victorias Go Fund Me campaign.

There are many lessons to be learned here.

  • Don't breed your dogs while toddlers are about. In fact, just don't breed your dogs.
  • Don't make up stories about being turned away by restaurant chains notorious for mass animal torture and abuse.
  • Don't believe any article which cites Colleen Lynn's as a source.
