David Lee Mangum, 37 of Dexter, Missouri has been charged with allegedly exposing hundreds of sex partners to HIV and not informing them that he was positive at the time. The charges came to light after one of his ex partners tested positive for HIV and reported her suspicions to the police after meeting Mangum on Craigslist in October 2012. Reportedly, Mangum admitted to Dexter police that he’had more than 300 partners since he was diagnosed 10 years ago. Police say he also admitted that he never disclosed is HIV positive status because of ‘fear of rejection.’
Mangum will be arraigned Thursday morning. His is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. Mangum could face up to 15 years for knowingly exposing someone to HIV and life in prison for infecting someone with HIV.
