Tonight, new television network Pivot debuts “HitRECord ON TV,” a variety show for the digital age created, hosted, and directed by actor and filmmaker Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The show is an extension of Gordon-Levitt's popular open-collaborative production company “hitRECord” where artists from a global online community create and develop art and media collectively. The show’s unique take on the variety show format puts the spotlight on the final product after Gordon-Levitt and his team culls these individual pieces from hundreds of contributors to create short films, live performances, music, animation, conversation and much more. Throughout the eight half-hour episodes, Gordon-Levitt introduces various themes for each show, highlights new and emerging talent and welcomes notable friends including Elle Fanning and Tony Danza among other surprise guests.

Each episode focuses on a different theme as Gordon-Levitt invites and encourages anyone with an internet connection to join him and contribute. The opening installment features the topic ‘The Number One,’ exploring the idea that there’s a first time for everything.

“I'm deeply proud of this show and I’m thrilled that Pivot’s giving us a chance to do it,” says Gordon-Levitt about the venture. “Honestly, making this together with all the artists from around the world in our hitRECord community has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life so far. I can’t wait to start making the next season.”

And there will definitely be a next season as Pivot has already renewed the series and commissioned more episodes.

Evan Shapiro, President of Pivot, made the announcement at a recent meeting with the Television Critics Association, saying, “Joe and thousands of artists around the world have come together to create something truly revolutionary -- a magical one-of-a-kind mix of genres, media and talent. We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Joe and the team on a second season to bring a spotlight to even more talented RECorders on Pivot.”

Pivot, which launched nationally August 1, is a television network from Participant Media serving passionate Millennials (18-34) with a diverse slate of talent and a mix of original series, acquired programming, films and documentaries.

HITRECORD ON TV” debuts tonight with two back-to-back episodes at 10e/p on Pivot.
