According to the Calgary Hitmen in a press release, the Calgary Hitmen traded Calder Brooks and a second round pick in the 2014 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft to the Prince Albert Raiders for Mike Winther on Saturday.

Brooks and Winther are both 19 year old forwards. Brooks is a left winger while Winther is a center. In 18 games this season, Winther has three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 18 games, while Brooks has eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 31 games.

Winther, a native of Trochu, Alberta was the Dallas Stars' 2nd round pick, 54th overall in the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Now with the addition of Winther, the Hitmen can extend their lead in the Western Hockey League standings. Unlike most contenders in the WHL, the Hitmen have zero representation at the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships. They currently have a three point lead over the Swift Current Broncos in the Eastern Conference, and will next play the Kootenay Ice at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night.
