According to the Calgary Hitmen website, the Calgary Hitmen have traded defenseman Josh Thrower to the Tri-City Americans for forward Connor Rankin.

Rankin, a 19 year-old left winger from Vancouver, British Columbia, had 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points this season.

Thrower, who is 17 years old, has two goals and four assists for six points in 34 games with the Hitmen this season. The native of Squamish, British Columbia has played three seasons for Calgary's Western Hockey League club. He also played for Team Pacific at the 2013 World U-17 Challenge in Victoriaville, Quebec.

Hitmen general manager Mike Moore and president of hockey operations Kelly Kisio have been very busy this week. They have also made trades with the Prince Albert Raiders, Portland Winterhawks and Everett Silvertips.

The Western Hockey League trade deadline is noon on Friday, January 10. It will be interesting to see if Kisio and Moore have any more trades up their sleeve.
