According to the Western Hockey League website, Greg Chase scored the overtime winner at 5:05 of the extra period on Monday night as the Calgary Hitmen defeated the Kootenay Ice 7-6 in the Western Hockey League playoffs.
In an offensive explosion for both teams, the game was a highly contested affair, as no team had more than a one goal lead.
Radel Fazleev led the Hitmen in scoring with two goals and two assists for four points, while Jaedon Deschenau had a six point night with a goal and five assists for the Ice.
With the victory, the Hitmen now lead the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series 2-1 with game four slated for Tuesday night on Shaw Television from Cranbrook, British Columbia.
In order for the Ice to come back in the series, they will simply need better goaltending. It was simply atrocious on Monday night. MacKenzie Skapski gave up seven goals on 28 shots, with a few of the goals that looked simple to stop. Expect Wyatt Hoflin to get the start for Kootenay tonight and the rest of the series.
