Hitler pup? Puppy called 'Adolph' because of striking resemblance to Hitler

Heel Hitler! Meet “Patch,” the canine Führer. This poor pup is a dead-on look alike to the German dictator, but Patch’s owner insists the little French bulldog and Shih Tzu cross is nothing like the Nazi leader. Thank goodness. The last thing we need is a tiny pup attempting to spread social Darwinism and seize power in Europe as an infallible leader.
Puppy Hitler? Meet “Patches,” the canine Führer.

Seven weeks old at the time the photo was taken last fall, this adorable puppy looks so much like Adolph Hitler that the family has started to call him “Adolph,” and Patch is responding to the unfortunate nickname.

Patch would seem to have all of the physical representations of the chancellor of Germany – the swept over black hair, the sunken eyes, and of course, the squared off mustache.

Lynda Whitehead, from York in England, said Patch belongs to her grandson, and that no one thought anything other than cute until her other daughter saw the pup’s photo on Facebook and pointed out the strange likeness. The gentle, loving dog now has been linked to quite possibly the most notoriously iniquitous figure in political history.

“My daughter said, ‘You’ve got a little Hitler there,’” Whitehead said. “Although he's called Patch, everybody calls him Adolf now.” Even Whitehead’s grandsons are now goose-stepping around the house and having fun with the nickname.

Patch is being reared at Whitehead's home along with the pup’s two brothers after their mom, Betty, rejected them from the litter. Patch's mother is a French bulldog and his father is a Shih Tzu; both belong to Lynda’s daughter Clare. Patch, or “Adolph,” officially belongs to Clare's one-year-old son Dan.

“Patch is a lovely little thing,” Whitehead said. “All of them are, but he is the gentlest of them all. He will sit on your lap and just look at you until he falls asleep.”
