Many riders sour on the arena-only riding options and long for an experience that offers more of an authentic old-west feel. Well folks, this is it!
The scenery is spectacular; you'll venture high up along the south slope of the historic Soldier Hollow valley (this was one of the prime spots used in the '02 Salt Lake winter Olympic games). You'll also enjoy views of the majestic Wasatch Mountains, including Mount Timpanogus to the south and the lush greenery of Deer Creek Reservoir.
Well schooled, reliable horses and seasoned cowboy trail guides make this a great ride. Depending on your level of experience, there are several different trail rides available. Both group outtings or individual adventures are welcome. Don't let winter snow and chilly temperatures deter you; sleigh rides are available in the wintry white-ground months.
If you want to make a day of it, ask about the "reins and train package", which includes a trip courtesy of the Heber Valley Railroad. You may be surprised by an old west outlaw as you ride the rails! This old west trek includes a tasty trailside lunch. It's a fun tour that's sure to entertain Utah locals and out-of-town tourists alike!
There are a few things that you should keep in mind when making a reservation for horseback riding:
Riders must be at least 8 years old to participate.
One rider per horse--absolutely no double riding.
Our trails are for walking only; no loping or trotting.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
All rides begin with a 10-15 minute arena lesson to introduce guests to the horses.
There is no weight limit. One should be considerate of the horses and not demand they carry excess weight. Each rider must be physically able to mount their horse unassisted.
Please arrive 20 minutes prior to scheduled ride.
