Still sour over missing the chance to see "This Is the End" on the big screen? Fear not, as Sony Pictures announced this week that the hit comedy will be returning to movie theaters this coming Friday. The announcement was first made via commercial break on the eve of Comedy Central's Roast of James Franco.
The film, directed by writing partners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, stars Franco, Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson. The comedic actors play their real-life(if not exaggerated) selves on the eve of what could be the day of reckoning for all humanity. Of course, hilarity ensues, and the film is chock-full of surprise celebrity cameos. To date, the comedic June release has taken in nearly $100 million at the domestic box office. Rory Bruer, President of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures, commented on the announcement:
"This Is the End" really struck a chord with comedy moviegoers this summer. For everyone who didn't get a chance to see it - or saw it and loved it and wants to see it again on the big screen - we are thrilled to have it back in theaters."
While "This is the End" will return to nearly 2000 theaters come September 6, there is no word on how long the film will stick around for its encore.
