Feel like going big this year? As luck would have it, Casey's St. Patrick's Day Street Festival at 613 Grand Avenue is the largest March 17, 2013 celebration in Los Angeles. 15,000 people are expected to show up at this 41st annual event, which has expanded around Casey's Irish Pub. This year, the blocks between 6th and 7th Street and Wilshire Boulevard will be closed for the party. The beer starts flowing at 6 a.m. Sunday, and the bash runs until 2 a.m. on Monday. Enter at Wilshire and Hope before 1 p.m., and general admission is free! After that, it's $8 per person. Or, you can plunk down $20 per person for the VIP fast pass, which includes separate entry without lines and access to a raised VIP area to get a bird's eye view of the fun.
A live musical line-up featuring the country's best tribute bands keeps it rockin'. The Potentials, Hollywood U2, Fan Halen, and The Police Experience are all slated to play!
Food and beverage specials are the order of the day. Drink $5 green beers (while supplies last) at Golden Gopher, take $2 off everything Irish at 4100 Bar, or down $5 Jameson shots all night at Broadway Bar. Chow down on a corned beef and sauerkraut on rye for $10 at Cole's Red Car Bar. Seven Grand features Irish music from 2 to 5 p.m. and is giving away green Seven Grand tee shirts. At Casey's, breakfast is dished from 7-10 a.m., followed by Casey’s St. Patty’s Day lunch and dinner menu starting at 11 a.m. More specials, games and fundraising for the Arthur Guinness Foundation are on tap.
